Inspiration
Long has the shark name carried with it the heavy burden of negative connotations. Be it in the wild or the financial sector, the word shark sends down shivers down one's spine. We want to break this unfair stereotype and show to the world what sharks really are, A bunch of amazing creatures with the potential to help many people!
What it does
Sharky, the shark, is brilliant. They view any company's current Twitter sentiment on NASDAQ100 and provides the end-user with a brief report, including the predicted stock price to help you with your financial investments. They also provide you with important data visualizations to provide an even clearer picture.
Challenges we ran into
Deployment of the backend was unfeasible due to major resource constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of learning complex frontend frameworks in a short period of time and being able to implement them successfully. Tackling third-party libraries such as yahoo finance (for data) and utilizing them seamlessly with the frontend.
What we learned
Use of FastAPI in python to communicate with the front end and sending image files over a server using byte64. Use of ReactJs and other frontend frameworks and libraries. Use of Figma for design prototyping and team collaboration
What's next for SharkRank
Creating a robust backend for proper deployment and refinement of pre-existing functionalities for a better user experience. Improving the ML model for better price prediction in a shorter period of time. Integrating a database with the ML models to shift the predictions from happening in real-time to happening after a fixed period reducing wait-time on the end-user side.
