Inspiration

Preparing for real investor meetings is stressful and high-stakes. Founders often discover weaknesses in their pitch only after facing real investors. Shark Bank was built to create a safe environment where founders can practice, fail, iterate, and improve before real capital, reputation, and momentum are on the line.

What it does

Shark Bank is a safe pitch-practice and fundraising simulation tool. Founders run test pitches against AI-generated investor personas, experience realistic negotiations, see offers change dynamically, and understand valuation and equity trade-offs — without raising real money.

How we built it

We built Shark Bank using React + Vite for the frontend, Supabase for authentication, database, and edge functions, and Flowglad to power real checkout and subscription flows. AI logic generates investor personas, questions, and offer adjustments to simulate real fundraising rounds.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing realism with simplicity. We needed negotiations and execution to feel authentic while keeping the platform safe, fast, and demo-friendly. Payment flows and redirects were especially tricky to make reliable under hackathon constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a safe sandbox for founders to practice investor pitches
  • Simulated realistic investor behavior without deep due diligence
  • Implemented real checkout flows without real financial risk
  • Delivered a product that teaches by interaction, not theory

What we learned

  • Founders learn faster through simulation than static feedback
  • Practicing negotiations builds confidence for real rounds
  • Realistic systems don’t need full complexity
  • Reducing fear improves pitch clarity and outcomes

What's next for Shark Bank

Expand investor persona diversity, add pitch scoring and feedback summaries, support pitch iteration tracking, and introduce team-based practice modes. Shark Bank is evolving into a training ground for founders before real investment rounds.
