Sharity

Sharity, a portmanteau of sharing and community, is the first step towards reimagining a world without the police, one of the fundamental goals of the Black Lives Matter movement.

As can be seen in privileged white neighborhoods throughout America, communities that share resources, build interpersonal relationships, invest in their youth, and foster goodwill have little to no need for a police presence. Sharity is a resource-sharing social platform that aids individuals in banding together to form self-sustaining networks to uplift their communities, an especially important service during the COVID-19 pandemic which has significantly exacerbated existing inequities.

Sharity allows users to make posts to share new resources and also features a map for easy viewing of local resources, alongside a scroll view for screen reader accessibility. Sharity also has a built-in direct messaging system to aid in organizing efforts and have fun making new friends!
