Inspiration

The ShareBook App draws inspiration from the desire to address the challenges readers face in acquiring desired books—whether due to unavailability, high costs, or limited prints. The goal is to create a community-driven platform where users can seamlessly share, buy, and sell books, fostering a culture of shared knowledge and literary exploration.

What it does

ShareBook serves as an Android application designed to facilitate efficient book sharing among users. It provides a platform for buying, selling, and auctioning books. Users can create listings, add books to their carts, and participate in online auctions for unique or limited-edition collections. Admins have control over user management and can oversee the auction process.

How we built it

The app was built using Android Studio, with the front end implemented in XML and the back end utilizing SQLite for database management. The design emphasizes user-friendly features like book searching, cart management, and auction participation. The development process involved careful consideration of user experience, security, and functionality.

Challenges we ran into

While developing ShareBook, we encountered challenges in implementing secure user authentication and authorization. Balancing the complexity of auction functionality and maintaining a simple, intuitive user interface presented its own set of challenges. Debugging and ensuring data security were also key hurdles that required thorough problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
