Inspiration 🌠
The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us be it the richest of the richest, the smartest of the smartest and the most fortunate of the most fortunate.

While the world was crumbling under the pangs of COVID-19, team Celestial Biscuit came up with a solution for the differently abled to make their lives easier during the pandemic.
One of our team members volunteers at an NGO for disabled people and being part of the place she started talking to the people and wanted to do something for them and involved the entire team. While talking and interviewing the people we concluded that disabled people normally feel alone, they feel that people around them don't understand them and there's a constant need of feeling independent. One of the people we interviewed had hemiplegia due to which half of his body does not work, showed us how he attached a few nuts and wooden part to his toaster so that he could make toast with just one hand. This added to our research made us come up with Sharability, through this platform we are able to solve the problem of them feeling alone, along with providing them the opportunity to share their life hacks and skills to help others facing similar problems.
Sharability is a platform where differently abled individuals can share life hacks and engage with one another in a close, tight-knit and safe community.

This platform is indeed a boon for those who are dependent on their carers for their daily needs. The users can look for a life hack for a problem they need to solve and voila, they can enjoy their lives to the fullest even after being stuck at home alone.

What makes Sharability different? 👑
|
Practicality - Real life hacks and content to answer practical challenges.
|
Visibility - Better content visibility classified by categories.
|
Community - Safe and genuine connections between members.
|
Features of Sharability 💡
- On the home page, the user can search amongst various categories and look for life hacks tht help them simplify their daily tasks.

- Sharability has a speech to text feature to make the application more accessible for our differently abled user base. Sharing of life hacks for a user is fairly easy and accessible. It is a four step process wherein the user has to submit a form containing four questions - title of the story, what challenge were they facing, what was their solution and upload a video, image or an audio.

- Sharability offers a connect with the community feature wherein the users can interact with one other through our chat system. The community members can connect and support one another.

Future scope to make the application more inclusive and accessible 🤑
- Use of ARIA roles.
- Transcribing videos and audios for people with a hearing disability.
- Describing videos and images for people with a visual disability.
What are you proud of?
After coming up with the idea, we prepared a Figma prototype of the web app in order to perform user testing and got a really positive response. Diana who is a youth and skills coach with cerebral Palsy told us that she loved her idea and though people tell that there are other platforms but the truth is that those platforms take a different direction and often make disabled people feel unsafe and insecure. and requested us to pursue the idea. Around 12 disabled people were user-tested and all of them gave a positive response. SharAbility is the only platform for the disabled to share their life hacks along with connecting with others. It provides them the specificity and also makes sure that they feel safe
