Inspiration

The idea for this project was born during my time as a student, when I was eager to learn programming but constantly battling a tight budget. Platforms like Udemy offered great resources, but each course came at a cost—and as a student, every dollar (euro) mattered. I often found myself wondering: What if I could share this course with others who had the same interests? Not only could we split the cost, but we could also build a small community of learners helping each other grow. That’s when the idea of a sharing platform first took root—a way to make learning more accessible, collaborative, and affordable for everyone.

What it does

Product Features

  • Create & Share Anything: Users can create listings for items or services they want to share—be it second-hand clothing, streaming accounts (like HBO or Disney+), language exchanges, skill swaps, or even group train tickets.
  • Local & Online Sharing: Offers can be based on a specific location or made available entirely online, giving users flexibility in how they want to share.
  • Free Sharing Options: Share things at no cost, such as tickets you can’t use anymore—concerts, soccer games, and more.
  • Smart Browsing & Filtering: Easily explore a wide range of shared items and services with robust search and filtering options.
  • Trust & Safety: A ranking and reporting system helps build trust within the community and flags inappropriate or unserious users.
  • User Experience Customization: Light mode and dark mode themes allow users to personalize their experience.
  • Multi-language Support: The app supports English and German, making it accessible to a broader audience. -Real-time Communication: Built-in messaging to connect, coordinate, and share seamlessly.

Technical Features

  • Fully Responsive SaaS Application: Optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • PWA (Progressive Web App): Can be installed directly on any device for an app-like experience.
  • Authentication System: Secure login and user management to protect accounts.
  • Complete Tech Stack: Includes frontend, backend, and a public-facing landing page.
  • Location-aware System: Supports geo-based and global online listings for dynamic sharing.
  • Scalable Architecture: Designed to grow with the user base and expand feature sets in the future.

How I built it

  • Built entirely with Bolt.new, mainly through prompting. Only minor adjustments were made manually, such as creating a logo with Hugging Face and adjusting some static image paths in the application.
  • Integrated a third-party location API to map locations more accurately and improve filtering capabilities.
  • Used Supabase for authentication and storing all user-generated data.

Challenges I ran into

  • I didn’t know how to integrate a database into Bolt.new, but it turned out to be easier than expected—almost like magic 😉
  • Translation took longer than expected. I had to double-check every page and modal to make sure it was covered… but I still managed to handle everything entirely through prompting, with no external services or libraries required.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Building a fully functional SaaS platform in a matter of days without really knowing how it would turn out in the end as I had no React or Supabase experience. It also felt great to finally bring an idea to life that had been in the back of my mind for a long time. Without this hackathon, I probably wouldn’t have built it at all.

What I learned

I didn't think I could implement a full stack application just with prompting. Will totally make use of this in future for all of my projects - personal and also at work.

What's next for Share-With-Me

My hope is to see the platform gain traction and grow into a vibrant, trustworthy community of people who find it useful and find real value in sharing. Monetization isn’t a priority for me, as it goes in some way against the spirit of what this project stands for. Ideally, I’d love to cover server and infrastructure costs through sponsorships—or, if needed, by integrating minimal banner ads that don’t disrupt the user experience.
