Frustration

David, like many other artists and creatives, wants to upload his work to multiple websites in order to get maximum exposure to different audiences. As such, he currently has his work displayed on five different websites. However, sharing his work is currently an extremely tedious process as he needs to upload his work to each website separately. As a result, sometimes he just can’t be bothered and will upload his work to only one website.

What it does

Share Img makes the process of sharing images on multiple websites easy and painless. Users are able to upload images JUST ONCE (!!) and post the same image and description to as many websites as they want. Share Img integrates with popular creative sharing platforms like Tumblr and Flickr.

How it works

First, users link their accounts for each website to the Share Img platform. Then, they upload an image and an write an accompanying description. Finally, they select all the websites they wish to upload that image to. Our platform then posts the image to all the websites and produces links to the posts so that the user can check that they’re posted. Easy!

Why our platform is different from existing solutions

There are social media scheduling platforms like Buffer and Hootsuite, but these are not suitable for artists and creatives as they are more geared towards businesses and do not integrate with platforms like Tumblr and Flickr.

How we built it

We used Node.js with Express.js as our base and we had to interact with each of the websites’ APIs. We used three-legged OAuth and store the authentication details into cookies. The process is currently done locally.

Challenges we ran into

Not having a working computer for a long time; working with the Tumblr and Flickr APIs

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Reaching MVP!!! Woohoo!

What we learned

What's next?

For our MVP, we only have Tumblr and Flickr working, so we aim to get the other websites up as well.
