Share&Care – Turning Surplus into Support

Quick Summary

Share&Care is a mobile platform that connects PGs, restaurants, hotels, clothing shops, and public venues with volunteers and NGOs to donate leftover food and usable clothes. Donors can list items, and volunteers or donor trucks deliver them to verified needy zones across the city.

Inspiration

Every day, huge amounts of food and clothes are wasted in PGs, hostels, restaurants, and shops — while thousands of people sleep hungry or without basic clothing. We wanted a system that connects surplus resources to the people who need them the most, quickly and safely. Share&Care was built to make donations simple, fast, traceable, and impactful.

What it does

Share&Care allows donors to:

Upload leftover food/clothes with quantity & pickup time

Choose Volunteer Pickup OR Donor Truck Delivery

Deliver directly to needy locations like bus stands, shelters & public venues

Volunteers/NGOs can:

View nearby donations on a map

Claim pickups

Track delivery status

Admins can:

Verify donors

Approve NGOs

Monitor distribution zones

View impact analytics

And NEW businesses (shops/restaurants) can promote themselves inside the app when they donate using our platform — becoming Featured Donors.

Challenges we ran into

Managing two delivery modes (volunteer vs. donor truck)

Real-time location syncing for pickups

Creating verified distribution zones

Designing an interface simple enough for all age groups

Integrating a business promotion system without harming the donation mission
