Shapa

Inspiration

We want to make healthy eating easier. When food leaves the packaging--at home, restaurants, and more--it is a hurdle to access nutritional information. Therefore, it is hard to diet and select healthy options. This is Shapa's story.

What it does

This application detects and recognizes a variety of foods. Then determines the nutritional values and ultimately determines if the food is healthy or unhealthy giving recommendations to the user on whether they should eat or not.

How we built it

We built it using three APIs including Clarifai. We used Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Making it work on mobile. Making the back camera primary when taking photos on mobile devices.

Making a working application with basic functionality.

Debug and make it more user friendly. Incorporate more data.
