Inspiration

ShakeBack was inspired by the stress and uncertainty people face after layoffs or career setbacks. We wanted to create a tool that doesn’t just help people find jobs—but helps them recover strategically and confidently.

What it does

ShakeBack is an AI-powered career copilot that helps users optimize resumes, tailor job applications, track opportunities, and receive personalized guidance throughout their job search journey.

How we built it

We built ShakeBack using a modern web stack with a React-based frontend and backend APIs integrated with AI models. The system processes user data (resumes, job descriptions) to generate tailored insights, recommendations, and application materials.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was ensuring AI-generated outputs were both personalized and relevant. We also had to design a seamless user experience that simplifies a complex, often overwhelming job search process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created an end-to-end platform that goes beyond job applications—offering strategy, structure, and support. We’re especially proud of how intuitive and impactful the user experience feels.

What we learned

We learned the importance of balancing powerful AI capabilities with simplicity. Users value clarity, speed, and actionable insights over overly complex features.

What's next for ShakeBack

Next, we plan to enhance personalization, integrate networking and referral features, and expand into long-term career growth tools like skill tracking and career path planning.
