Inspiration
As a developer exploring Atlassian’s ecosystem, I wanted to build something practical while learning how to extend Confluence’s capabilities using Forge.
What it does
This app adds a custom panel to a Confluence space page, displaying a personalized "Hello, [user]" message using Forge's UI Kit and context API.
How I built it
I used the Forge CLI to scaffold a UI Kit-based app with the confluence-space-page module. The app fetches user context from the Confluence API and renders the content using React components.
Challenges I ran into
Setting up the development environment and understanding permissions in manifest.yml was a bit tricky at first. Deploying and installing the app correctly also required careful steps.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
I successfully deployed my first Confluence app, integrated frontend and backend logic, and understood how Forge modules and resolvers work together.
What I learned
I learned how to use the Forge platform, build with the UI Kit, fetch data using Forge bridge and context APIs, and debug using the CLI tools.
What's next for Shahtab's first Confluence quest
Next, I’d like to explore dynamic data rendering from Confluence pages, build interactive features, and eventually publish useful internal tools for teams using Confluence.
