Inspiration
While brainstorming ideas that can cover 3 groups, we found a big laugh in one of the ideas. After some thought and fast maturity growth, the idea began to cultivate.
What it does
We have a fortune-telling shaman, residing in a beautiful UI, telling romance fortunes, and producing humorous one-liners for each user.
How we built it
With a lot of front-end love (courtesy of Spencer), non-stop research into new APIs and platforms, and good ol' fashion grit! The front end was mostly developed before midnight, which left the group the remaining time to learn how to apply different ML algorithms that are currently available. The biggest and coolest consists of the string passing from HTML, to javascript, to python, to a text-to-speak algorithm, and right back around for the user to see along with the lip-syncing algorithm "wav2lip". Unfortunately, we couldn't get out machines to agree with wav2lip but the research and testing were still intersting.
Challenges we ran into
Learning Django and Flask to run the necessary python code along with the javascript.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning Flask(to an extent) and completing our first hackathon!
What we learned
We learned sleep is optional and organization is key for group projects.
What's next for Shady Shaman, Teller of Fate
As we're proud of what our final product became, even if not fully realized, we all plan to add it to the projects on our resumes.
