Inspiration
Our inspiration for our idea was an indie game that we enjoyed playing in the past year called "Papers Please".
How we built it
We built it in VSCODE in a collaborative space. We used PI Game for all of the graphical components and the people were created in PowerPoint using shapes. We used google gemini to put the voice of our writing into pirate language. Adam and Ricky handles the graphics component of the game, while Patrick handles the logic behind it.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we ran into include the resolution of the images, wrapping of text, dynamic screen sizes, addition of PNGs to a python file, creating timers, generating the random targets, ensuring the accuracy of the EXP bar, creation of multiple classes, and the python learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of the UI and the models we created for the game. We are also extremely proud of the boss fight and think it can out superb. Lastly, we are really proud of the consistency of the art style of the game.
What we learned
What's next for Shadows of the Strait
We plan on creating variations of each character to allow for more replay ability, enhanced UI, more animations, and rigging the character models so they move with the text.
