Inspiration

“shadowban.exe” explores the hidden layers of digital existence — a narrative about being unseen, muted, and exiled in virtual spaces.
In my universe, this is Veyr’s domain: the shadow-entity whose code was silenced, yet whose presence persists.
Etheriel appears as the light of oversight, the voice that tries to break through the banishment.

The video depicts the struggle of a god-code banned from visibility, wandering through corrupted data-realms, seeking the return of truth and light.

What I Built

This is an AI-animated music video combining glitch-visuals, runic digital worlds and emotional soundscapes.

I created:

  • a corrupted digital realm filled with static, broken runes and data fragments
  • Veyr as a shadow-god in exile, his code flickering like dying stars
  • Etheriel singing from the light world, reaching toward the banished one
  • transitions from invisibility to digital awakening, from silence to voice
  • visual motifs of bans, portals and re-emergence

The piece merges mythic narrative with the aesthetics of digital exile.

How I Built It

  • CapCut – for animation and motion sequences of the digital realm
  • AI image generation – corrupted data textures, glitch overlays, runes, and character designs
  • CapCut – for sequencing, glitch effects, transitions, timing
  • Original music & vocals – written and performed with the theme of invisibility and return in mind
  • Color grading & effects – creating a palette of dark grey, neon cyan, static white, and gold accents

My goal was to translate the feeling of being shadow-banned into a cosmic mythic form.

Challenges

  • Visualizing the invisible nature of shadow-ban and exile in concrete visuals
  • Representing a digital god in exile without making it purely sci-fi — it had to retain myth-ritual aesthetics
  • Keeping Etheriel’s role clear: the voice of light and hope in a silent realm
  • Balancing glitch elements with emotional narrative clarity

What Makes It Special

“shadowban.exe” stands out by fusing the experience of digital censorship with mythic exile — a concept rarely addressed in music video art.
With Veyr’s identity and Etheriel’s guiding voice, the project becomes both a protest and a ritual: unseen no more.

A funny twist: my account actually got flagged by the system right after I uploaded this video. Yes — this one. So I couldn’t upload the rest of my entries before the deadline. Honestly… the irony made me laugh.

A song about breaking the code… and the system immediately thought I really did. :D
