Shadow In BaseNest

Inspiration

We wanted to capture Agent Shadow's espionage thriller energy through music. Hip hop's rhythm and confidence matched the octopus spy's stealth and determination, creating a sonic identity for the character and story.

What it does

Shadow in BaseNest is a music video combining a hip hop track made with ElevenLabs plus visuals from the Propaganda Spy Agency beta. The song embodies Agent Shadow (Octazia), the hyper-evolved octopus operative, as she infiltrates enemy territory. Visuals from the interactive narrative show key moments: training sequences, mission briefings, surveillance operations, and the dangerous journey into Cedar's base of operations.

How we built it

We created the track using ElevenLabs Music, generating beats and composition that match the espionage thriller tone. The music captures both the tactical precision and underlying tension of Shadow's mission. We then paired the track with gameplay visuals that sync with the song's energy and narrative progression.

Challenges we ran into

Matching musical tone to character and story without lyrics becoming too expository. The track needed to feel like it belonged to this world and this character while standing alone as an engaging piece of music.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a sonic identity for Propaganda Spy Agency that complements the visual storytelling. The musical style gives Agent Shadow a distinct character voice while the pairing with beta visuals shows how music can enhance narrative game experiences.

What we learned

Music videos for interactive narratives serve dual purposes: they're promotional content and world-building. The right track can communicate character, tone, and stakes as effectively as gameplay footage.
