Inspiration

Telecom fraud is a growing global problem that causes billions of dollars in losses every year. Fraudulent activities such as SIM abuse, scam calls, identity misuse, and suspicious network behavior affect both telecom companies and everyday users. We were inspired to build Telecom FraudShield AI because traditional fraud detection systems often rely on manual rules and reactive processes, which are slow and inefficient against modern fraud techniques. We wanted to create an intelligent system that can detect fraud in real time, predict potential threats before damage occurs, and automate protective actions. Our vision was to build a smarter and faster telecom security solution powered by AI.

What it does

Telecom FraudShield AI is an AI-powered telecom fraud detection and prevention system designed to monitor telecom activity and identify suspicious behavior in real time.

The system analyzes multiple behavioral factors such as:

Call frequency International call activity SMS volume Device changes SIM changes Account age Recharge behavior Complaint history

Using AI and machine learning, the platform generates:

Fraud probability score Risk level classification Threat tier analysis Recommended actions

Key features include:

Real-time fraud detection AI-powered risk prediction Fraud scoring system Automated alert generation SIM monitoring and protection Admin dashboard for fraud case management Appeal and case review system

When suspicious activity is detected, the system can trigger automated actions such as:

Risk alerts Temporary SIM restrictions Manual review escalation Security enforcement recommendations

How we built it

We built Telecom FraudShield AI by combining AI models, software engineering, and dashboard visualization.

Technologies Used Python Machine Learning Streamlit Pandas NumPy Scikit-learn Supabase CSV dataset simulation

What we learned

This project taught us many valuable lessons.

AI is powerful for solving real-world security problems Data quality is critical for accurate predictions Fraud detection requires both AI intelligence and domain knowledge Building practical AI systems requires more than just model training Automation greatly improves response speed and efficiency

What's next for Telecom FraudShield AI

We see strong future potential for Telecom FraudShield AI.

Our next steps include:

Improve model accuracy with larger real-world datasets Add deep learning models for advanced fraud detection Integrate live telecom network data
