Inspiration
"Everybody has something, nobody has everything" inspired by this quote I thought of Sh@reNet. A system through which everyone can not only help others but get help when they require it as well.
What it does
Sh@renet creates a network between various organizations to share resources. It is an e-platform which provides space for uploading the inventory of equipment or items one has and, at the same time, request for the equipment and items one needs. The institutions and organizations can register on this platform with the common intention of multiplying resources by way of sharing.
How I built it
We first created the pipeline for the project. Then set up the databases. then we worked simultaneously on the display pages and the functionality of the website. On the last day, we styled the website.
Challenges I ran into
Working as a team was a challenge due to the difference in the python packages' versions. Eventually, we figured out a way to work together by creating a virtual environment and sharing parts of code to be added instead of the whole folders
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that irrespective of the hurdles we faced we were able to full through and make a full-scale project with all edge cases though off.
What I learned
I learned a lot about Django considering this was my first full-scale website with it.
What's next for Sh@reNet
The mission of Sh@renet is to enable sharing and pooling of resources among, and between, various institutions and organizations like health, education, and public works department etc. for the wellbeing and common good of the society. This will help the economically challenged African countries to optimally utilize the resources and pursue the path of growth. In the future, we wish to integrate as many categories of organizations as possible to widen our network.
