Inspiration
Initially, when we first read the challenge statement it was clear to say that none of us really understood the problems and pain points that Overseas Singaporeans face. Considering how all of us grew up and stayed in Singapore for most of the 20+ years of our lives, we were unfamiliar with what struggles Overseas Singaporeans might be plagued with. Along with the current pandemic, we pondered what must it be like for these Overseas Singaporeans to navigate through their situation through COVID lenses. Hence, the birth of SGWelcome.
What it does
SGWelcome aims to become the one-stop centralized communication channel for Overseas Singaporeans to seek support for their administrative matters such as voting, renewing of passport, NS deferrent and also getting related information on vaccination bookings, SHN etc.
With many different aspects that Overseas Singaporeans might face, we've decided to summarise our app to address the most common needs that, namely the four functionalities as stated above. Despite these functionalities having their own website/portal, we believe that the infinite number of websites and resources can be confusing.
In order to ease our user's journey when they navigate, we believe that having a centralised application to host all related information would help to improve the quality of their life greatly, saving them the time and effort to manually search up individual websites.
