Inspiration
We felt that there was a lot of room to implement new things like blockchain and DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) structure, especially in a field like fault-reporting where there hasn't been much focus. This app that we make aims to come up with a cutting-edge solution to solve a common preexisting problem.
What it does
SGreport is a mobile app that utilizes tokenomics and blockchain technology to create a community-driven system for reporting and resolving car park issues. The app allows residents to easily report issues such as broken equipment or illegal parking by taking a picture and filling out a quick report. By doing so, they can earn ERC20 tokens which can be used as a form of cryptocurrency for incentives such as booking a parking spot in advance. The decentralized, tamper-proof blockchain ledger allows HDB's maintenance teams to easily track the progress of resolving reported issues. Smart contracts automatically trigger actions, such as assigning a worker to resolve an issue, and a voting system allows the community to prioritize issues.
How we built it
The app is built using react native, with Tailwind for easy formatting. Authentication and storage of user details are handled by Firebase, and testing of the app was done by expo. We spent the first few hours brainstorming ideas and selecting the question, then built the app skeleton via react native. Once that was done, we independently built pages while others worked on the blockchain integration.
Challenges we ran into
Coordinating meetings was difficult as our team is composed of both full-time students as well as people with internships. In addition, we also experienced technical difficulties with emulating the app via expo that slowed down our testing and development.

What we learned
We learnt how to integrate a camera background and blockchain into the app as none of us had done that before. In addition, some of us also had to catch up on react native and tailwind. Due to our schedules we also had to get used to working independently and as such version control was extremely important.
What's next for SGreports
Adding automated location detection functionality via GIS lookup minimizes the time needed to report faults. In addition, we could also create ETH custodial wallets for users upon registration. The wallet would serve as a far more secure mode of authentication, and would be utilized to hold the tokens.
