Inspiration

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to interact with our friend groups physically, hence GiftSwap is made to facilitate interactions with your friends by carrying out gift exchanges! We believe that giving and receiving gifts can help to increase moral and strengthen bonds even in the Covid-19 pandemic.

What it does

GiftSwap helps to organise gift exchanges within a group. It matches a user with a member in the group who they have to get a gift for. The user will also receive a gift in return from another member who got matched with them!

How we built it

We used Python as the programming language and Pyrogram as the Telegram framework.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time actually making a telegram bot using python. There was a lot of reading and understanding before actually implementing it. Also, due to the lack of time, we are only able to complete one feature.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully ensuring that the telegram bot works in a group. After activating it in the group, the bot is able to match different people in a group together for the friend group to carry out this gift swap activity.

What we learned

We learnt how to build a telegram bot using Python.

What's next for sgreans

We want to gain more exposure in participating in more hackathons and workshops to learn as much as we can. Additionally, we hope that we can add more features for the bot such as wishlists and budget.
