Inspiration The Power of Words as Policy Infrastructure
The words we choose shape cities. Messaging isn’t just persuasion: it’s infrastructure. SF Aligned maps language like code, structuring live discourse as a scaffold for decision-making.
What It Does Turns any semantic data stream into an agent-actionable reference for insights or forecasts. SF Aligned doesn’t just listen; it maps the intent behind every sentence, showing how language moves through a city like gravity. As ideas shift from draft to amendment to vote, agents can measure drift, reinforce clarity, and surface the unseen weight behind a proposal to reach aligned outcomes.
How We Built It We referenced a historical proposal—2024's Prop G—and created a timeline from every transcript or public data source we could locate. Each message became a datapoint in a stream of evolving intent.
Challenges We Ran Into Policy doesn’t have a clean data stream. It took significant research to reconstruct the full trajectory of words over time. Even then, this is only a partial picture—missing the calls, private threads, and hallway conversations that shape outcomes.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
Reconstructed a messaging timeline from public record. Demonstrated agent-aligned drift and resonance scoring.
What We Learned There’s a sharp drop-off in public discourse once a proposal gains momentum. Proponents unify their voice, and internal conversations disappear from public view. That lack of continuity makes it hard to evaluate influence without additional context.
There’s not enough structured historical messaging data to know whether the insights here are definitive or only directional. But this framework gives us a way to ask better questions.
What’s Next for SF Aligned: Semantic Observatory for Agents Simulations of messaging changes throughout the lifecycle. Historical proposals mapped in parallel for comparison. Integration with other civic data streams to allow agents to shape more holistic strategies for future planning.
