Inspiration
Emergencies can happen anytime, and access to timely help can save lives. We were inspired to create EchoHelp to empower individuals and communities with a simple, accessible platform that bridges the gap between those in need and those ready to help.
What it does
EchoHelp is a real-time emergency response platform. Users can:
- Report emergencies instantly.
- View and track incidents on an interactive map.
- Connect with nearby volunteers and responders.
- Access medical records and emergency contacts.
- Receive live updates and notifications.
How we built it
We built EchoHelp using:
- Frontend: React, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript
- Backend: Planned with Node.js with WebSocket support for real-time updates(Under development)
- Map Services: Google Maps API for live tracking
- PWA Support: Vite with
vite-plugin-pwafor offline capabilities - Hosting: Netlify for fast, scalable deployment
Challenges we ran into
- Implementing smooth real-time updates without performance lags
- Ensuring accessibility and responsive design across devices
- Handling geolocation and map clustering effectively
- Managing state synchronization between local cache and live data
Accomplishments that we're proud of
