Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was our very families. Recently one of our team members' family needed to attend an event but also had to take us somewhere. Nowadays, Ubers aren't exactly the safest options, so we decided to create ServicePlace, allowing other parents and members to fulfill tasks that other members require while earning a little extra money in the process.

What it does

This project helps connect people with jobs they can do using their skills while earning money in the process. Kind of like CraigsList, this website specializes in fostering mutual benefits for all users.

How we built it

We built this project using HTML, CSS, and JS after overcoming lots of challenges along the way related to database usage.

Challenges we ran into

Getting databases to work was a big challenge for us. Unfortunately, we figured we would need a lot more time than was allocated in this event, so we had to scrap that idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of being able to create this website in a really short time. We tried working with multiple databases, but none of them worked and this effort took up a large amount of our time. Thus, we're really proud of being able to work as a team to quickly put together something simple.

What we learned

We learned that oftentimes, complexity isn't the solution to problems. In short timeframes like today, it is often important to create something simple rather than complex as there is a higher chance for it to work.

What's next for ServicePlace

We plan to use MongoDB databases along with NodeJS and ReactJS to create a more widespread platform for members. This would make it much easier to share and increase versatility.
