Inspiration
With 500M+ Indians living in Tier 2/3/4 cities, most still lack digital access to trusted local services. Skilled workers like electricians, plumbers, and tutors remain invisible — not because they lack talent, but because platforms are built for English speakers, big cities, and screens.
Meanwhile, voice-first tech has reached a tipping point, enabling intuitive interactions in Indian languages. We asked: What if you could just speak your need, and find trusted local help instantly? That’s how ServeNear was born — a voice-first, hyperlocal service platform to empower India’s grassroots economy.
What it does
ServeNear allows anyone to:
- Speak a request in their language (e.g., “मुझे कल पानी की मोटर ठीक करवानी है”)
- Get instantly matched with nearby verified service providers
- View ratings based on respect, trust, communication, punctuality
- Book services, schedule appointments, and track impact (CO₂ saved, e-waste avoided) At the same time, skilled workers can:
- Add and manage their services
- Get real-time voice-based service requests
- Build trust with mutual reviews
How we built it
- We used Bolt.new for the entire app — from UI to backend.
- Voice AI: Integrated ElevenLabs for voice-to-text in Hindi and English.
- Maps & Geo Queries: Used Google maps to match requests to nearby providers.
- Data Tables: Bolt handled all data tables in Supabase — users, services, bookings, reviews, and environmental impact.
- AI Assistant - Used Google Gemini for assistance
- Custom UI: Designed neumorphic cards, teal accent theme, and bottom nav bar to match modern UX standards.
- Mutual Rating System: Created dual rating flow for both provider and seeker post-completion.
Challenges we ran into
- Getting voice input to feel smooth and intuitive inside a no-code interface
- Mapping and filtering results based on user location dynamically
- Designing for low-literacy users who might rely entirely on voice without text input
- Structuring the data tables for two-sided roles (provider & consumer in one account)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Voice-first experience that feels truly natural and inclusive
- End-to-end flow works entirely inside Bolt.new
- Environmental impact card — turning daily services into visible climate action
- A design system that looks and feels production-ready
What we learned
- Bolt.new is surprisingly capable — you can build complex, real-world platforms with little to no custom backend, even with no code knowledge, just vibe coding
- Voice interfaces are not just “cool,” they are necessary for emerging economies
- Clear user flows and minimal UI go a long way in onboarding first-time users
- The unorganized economy isn’t “unskilled” — it’s just unrepresented digitally
What's next for ServiceNear
- Multilingual Expansion: Add Tamil, Marathi, Bengali voice support
- Offline Voice Requests: Capture requests even without internet — sync later
- Skill-Based Training: Offer micro-upskilling programs and badges inside the app
- Smart Suggestions: Use AI to predict seasonal service demand by region
- Rent Instead of Buy: Let users rent tools/appliances from nearby providers to reduce e-waste
We’re building an India where every voice creates opportunity.
