Inspiration

Syracuse is such a beautiful city, so we wanted to see it cleaner and more beautiful.

What it does

It investigates the needs and interests of the Syracuse population, suggesting that a clean neighborhood is one of the most paramount of them.

How we built it

We analyzed the data from the CityLine requests (6/2021-3/2024), grouped it by the top thematic categories, and put it on the map. Additionally, we compared the data from the vacant properties registry and Cityline dataset to see if the service requests were concentrated in that area. Further, we analyzed how the number of rented properties impacted the neighborhood's cleanliness and whether weekly pickup requests were submitted on the day of the weekly trash pickup. However, we didn't find any strong correlation there.

Challenges we ran into

I came up with the idea of what to analyze, the scope, how to present it, and how to work with the heat map.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our teamwork and the support we provided to each other working together. We believe our heat map looks pretty solid, represents our key findings, and can be used to monitor city waste management policy implementation.

What we learned

We learned how to analyze the data, develop a story to present, develop a heat map, and work with the plots.
