About
Activity Finder is a tool that can be used by social prescribers, support workers, or anyone who wants to find services, help, support groups, or activities. The tool uses Open Referral UK, which is a government-supported open data standard. It defines how to publish and describe information about services so that people can get the information they need more quickly and easily, and helps to create joined-up local communities and services.
Using Activity Finder, a user can enter a short description about themselves or someone they are supporting, and the tool will find suitable services or activities this person can participate in. The power of LLM enables our server to convert natural language into structured data formats, thus being able to handle all the nitty-gritty tasks of API consumption and data post-processing.
Social prescribers are one of the main target audiences of this tool. Social prescribers are key workers who help vulnerable people and those who need support by getting them involved in services or activities that can assist them. Currently, social prescribers rely on search engines and multiple service directories; they have to search using “trial and error” as they need to search against a list of activities that are helpful to the person they are supporting, but these activities may not be available in the person's area. The tool can also be used by people directly as it does not require any specific knowledge to operate.
Our Solution Unique Point
This tool brings a unified interface to search for activities and services from trusted sources, which massively improves the user experience for people who support others or are looking for support themselves. Users don't have to search through multiple outdated websites and directories.
