Inspiration

There are countless product marketplaces, but finding a reliable service marketplace is still a challenge. Wouldn't it be great if you could instantly see a list of local services—ranging from party hall rentals to top-rated restaurants—all in one place? This inspired us to create Servease, a platform that makes discovering and comparing services fast, easy, and tailored to your preferences.

What it does

Servease helps users find nearby services by:

  1. Displaying a curated list of service providers based on their location, budget, and preferences.
  2. Offering smart filtering to match results with specific needs.
  3. Using an AI-powered chatbot to refine recommendations and provide a personalized experience

How we built it

Frontend: We used React to create a clean, responsive, and intuitive user interface.

AI Integration: We incorporated the OpenAI API to develop a chatbot that processes user preferences and generates customized service suggestions.

Database: We built a service database to efficiently filter and retrieve only the services that match the user’s request.

Challenges we ran into

We initially used the Gemini API, but we quickly hit the usage limit. To maintain functionality, we switched to OpenAI's API for more reliable performance.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building a fully functional service discovery platform with smart filtering and AI-powered recommendations. Creating a seamless and intuitive UX that allows users to find services quickly and effortlessly.

What we learned

  1. The importance of API scalability and having a fallback option when hitting rate limits.
  2. How to optimize database queries for better filtering performance.
  3. The value of user-centric design when building a service platform—making the interface simple yet powerful.

What's next for ServEase

  1. Membership for Service Providers: Introduce business memberships that allow local service providers to join the platform, list their services, and reach more customers.
  2. Expand Service Categories: Add more service types, such as home repairs, event planning, and wellness services.
