Inspiration
Starting a new business is exciting, but choosing the right location is difficult and to think about the challenges it is quite horrifying. We wanted to build a tool that helps people look at a business idea more carefully before spending money. SerpMe was created to turn local map data into a clearer starting point for business decisions. There for we think people can create and start a business more efficiently.
What it does
SerpMe helps users analyze a business idea in a selected location.
It uses Google Maps results through SerpAPI to show nearby businesses, ratings, reviews, competition level, and local market signals. It also gives a Market Viability Score with clear sub-scores such as demand, commercial activity, accessibility, competition gap, and location compatibility.
The app includes a simple financial section for break-even planning. It also has a Demand Validation Lab. Users can enter measured search interest, paid pre-orders or bookings, and footfall counts. SerpMe does not create a demand score when the evidence is incomplete. There is also a Concept Studio. Users can choose a business type, enter shop details, create a suggested layout, add walls, doors, sinks, and obstacles, and see a free 3D concept preview. SerpMe is not a final investment, legal, or architectural decision tool. It is an early research and validation tool.
How we built it
We built the frontend with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The backend is a small Python web service deployed on Render. Which it gets its source code from our page in GitHub.We purchased the domain from Hosting. For local business data, we used SerpAPI with the Google Maps engine. The API key stays on the server and is not sent to the browser for security reasons of course. We used Supabase for user accounts, saved ideas, and saved reports. The Concept Studio uses browser Canvas to create the free 3D preview, because we couldn’t afford OpenAI API or suchs to create more life like photos.
Challenges we ran into
While we design how the system could rank the business ideas we put a lot of thinking in it because our system must be consistent and delusional. Also coding specific systems were hard and we would need help such points because creating 3D mapping were though to beat without any API’s. To analyze some ideas that weren’t exist we design system that able to fractional expend the comparison radius, coding this system was though also.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that SerpMe connects several steps of a business decision in one place and do it very good.We are also proud that platform is working and telling its limits and where we are getting the information. Platform is honest and efficient.
What we learned
We learned almost every tool we use and how to use API’s also we learned creating a system that has its layers.
What's next for SerpMe
Our goal is to make SerpMe more consistent and more accurate. We will develop the SerpMe to a place where users can find almost every important tool they need before starting a business. This includes location comparison, stronger demand validation, conservative/base/optimistic financial scenarios, 90-day launch planning, competitor review insights, report history, and better space planning. We also want to improve how SerpMe explains results. SerpMe should clearly show which information comes from live data, which information is based on user inputs, and which values are only assumptions. In the future, SerpMe should help users move from an early idea to a more prepared business launch step by step.
