Inspiration
Out of 240 freshers we have in our batch only around 100 participate in group chat and interact with other students on a daily basis. this is because many of them are introverts and they can't socialize easily with their batchmates. therefore one of our team members shashank Srivastava came up with this idea of SERENITYHERE. It was developed with the thought that the people who are introverts or the people who face difficulties on expressing their feelings and emotions, can do the mentioned with another way without any hesitation and lack of confidence because here you are anonymous. You can write confessions,talk to people and socialize with them without disclosing your identity. So it will help all introverts to ask for help or talk to someone without any fear of their social reputation.
What it does
This site allows you to post anything anonymously as on this portal judging is not welcomed at all. You can also confess to anyone just by mentioning that person’s handle(generated by the site itself). We will send a message to him/her stating the confession without disclosing your identity. Also, people can present their views on your posted confessions. SerenityHere also gives you a very gripping and captivating feature that will empower you with a function of our thought where you can post any question related to any theme of your life like any academic problems, time management problems, family issues, etc. You will get different solutions from different people and you can go with the best one. The main fact is that people will not be able to judge you on any higher aspects of life like religion, caste, or on any type of your background. also, our system will automatically censor any sensitive content which may violate others. But still, you are advised to abide by the social media rules and regulations and maintain the decorum of the site.
How we built it
first of all, we conducted a meet where our team member shashank discussed his idea with us then all of us presented our views and divided the work among us. shashank handled the backend, Shubham and Prashant managed to prepare the presentation video and the readme document of the project along with a little helping hand in the front end section of the project. we added the login and signup page with some basic encryption. we have applied some online bully screening to censor the cuss words. we have added a basic structure of a personal chat and you can DM other members but it is too basic right now due to lack of time. we have also added an option to find other users on this website.
Challenges we ran into
We all are students of first year and even our semester duration is also reduced to half, so we are basically not much exposed to the experience required in this sector. The main challenge which we faced was the time constraint set for the submission of the project. We had to skip some of the features which we would have made available if we had enough time. But, we will surely upgrade our platform later and we will come up with a number of interesting features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to make a full-fledged website without any prior knowledge and experience. Looking at the time-constraint our progress made us really happy and proud of ourselves.
What we learned
Shashank Shrivastava = helped him to improve his Django understanding he got some UI/UX design experience also he also got a chance to work on the MySQL database
Shubham Anand = I got to explore various new and interesting frameworks and really learned very much in the frontend sector. I also got to learn concepts related to designing and presentation.
Om Ghumare = I got to explore various concepts and designs which comes in handy while developing the front-end of a website
Prashant = helped him to learn more about content writing, video editing and sharpen some skills of frontend development
What's next for Serenity Here
We have very ambitious plans for the future of this project. we will increase the quality of encryption to make our website safer. we will also increase the online bully screening using AI and ML . also we will add real-time Chat and chatboxes and real-time gaming so that the users can play anonymously with each other online on this website. we will also add a poll and linktree on this website so that students can decide on various matters on this website and all their links are available to them in one place. In this way it can turn out to be an online platform for IIIT Kottayam students to ask all their queries anonymously and it would be especially useful for the shy and introverted type of students to interact with others and ask for help in various matters.
