Inspiration

Serac is a Pomodoro focus tool designed to make life easier for people with ADHD and other neurodivergent individuals. A significant number of people experience ADHD, and tools like Serac can make a great difference in their daily lives. By combining customizable focus timers with automatic blocking of distracting websites, it helps users overcome common digital distractions, enabling more comfortable, independent, and confident interaction with technology.

What it does

Searc is a Pomodoro extension for Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, designed to help neurodivergent users improve focus by combining the Pomodoro technique with distraction blocking. The Pomodoro technique is a structured system of work and break intervals, which has been proven in multiple studies to increase focus and motivation.

How we built it

Searc is a Chrome Extension that is fully built with HTML, CSS, and JS in VSCode with live collaboration. Assets are from Google's Material Icons library. The logo was created with Namecheap's logo generation tool, then tweaked in Adobe Photoshop.

Challenges we ran into

-Custom page block screen (relatively easy to fix) -CSS Styling and positioning specifically for the progress bar (way harder than any of us expected, and it took half the day to properly fix haha) -Chrome web store takes way too long to accept (not possible to fix so we uploaded the unpacked extension to Github)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-UI (not as bad as we thought it would be) -We accomplished everything we set out to do

What we learned

-One of our two teammates learned how to develop a Chrome Extension for the first time :) -How to make progress bars

What's next for Serac

-Better page blocking system (remember page URLS so that once disabled you can access again) -Overhauled UI
