Inspiration
We were inspired by forums like stack overflow that aimed to help beginners with their troubles. Additionally, we were also inspired by the talks that old people gave regarding their wisdom. We wondered why this couldn't become a website, so we made it.
What it does
Sequoia is a forum where skilled people can share their wisdom with less experienced users so they can gain real world skills. It features a detailed skill tree to serve as an engaging progress tracker that gives the elderly a purpose in life.
How we built it
We built with React-Three-Fiber with Tailwind CSS, Typescript, Superbase and SQL for backend.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to make the skill tree look good and serve a purpose. The 3D shaders were quite hard to work with and incorporating the tree into the forum was challenging. However, we managed to do it in the end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of making a fully functioning website with several features that professional forums have. This is also our first time making a back end so that was a cool experience as well.
What we learned
We learned how to use a backend and React-Three-Fiber.
What's next for Sequoia
We want to scale up the infrastructure so it can support many more users.
