Inspiration
The Risks of healthcare workshop that we attended really helped us see the importance of sepsis. We now understand how important it is to raise awareness about not just the condition, but especially about prioritizing early diagnosis.
What it does
We have developed a risk assessment tool for patients to use to help understand their symptoms and determine whether they are at risk for sepsis. The unique part of our project is that we do not store patient data, but still have options to share real-time information with one's healthcare provider, if the user chooses to do so.
How we built it
HTML, CSS, and Python to build the front and back-end of our website, and Flask as our server.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing a database was very hard. Then, we realized that to make our project unique from other assessment tools, especially to ensure patient data safety, not storing data would be better.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made a very cute accordion FAQ :) And we are very proud of our mission statement, and resilience throughout this hackathon. It is the first hackathon for all of us, and we made it very far.
What we learned
Flask, coding pretty things using just CSS,
What's next for Sepsis Risk Assessment Tool
Implementing a tracker to keep track of said symptoms, rather than just a yes/no of whether the patient has experienced said symptoms within the past two weeks.
