Inspiration
The initial spark came from the feeling of digital fatigue in the fast-paced Seoul city life, searching for a raw, pure sound. I was inspired to bridge this gap by infusing the authentic, analog energy of Jamaican Ska and Reggae into modern K-pop/Hip-hop, a true 'Seoul-to-Kingston' collision.
What it does
"Seoul 2 Kingston" is a multimedia narrative centered around a music track and its AI-generated music video. It functions as a bold experiment in Cultural Symbiosis, blending the vibrant, upbeat energy of Jamaican Ska with contemporary Seoul Hip-hop/K-Pop aesthetics. Beyond the music, the video uses contrasting visuals (cold blue Seoul vs. warm golden Kingston) to bridge geographical and emotional boundaries, proving that musical soul is universal and can be revitalized by honoring tradition (the old saxophonist).
How we built it
Audio Core Generation (Suno): The foundation of the track was generated entirely using Suno. We used detailed prompts to create the central musical core, ensuring it embodied the dynamic fusion of a modern Seoul-style Hip-hop/Trap beat with the upbeat brass and rhythm of Ska
Visual Concept & Character Design: Midjourney was instrumental in establishing the unique art style. We developed highly specific personal style prompts to ensure visual consistency of the main character and aesthetic across hundreds of generated images, which is vital for seamless video flow. The stylized, transitional 3-head-high character was created with ChatGPT's DALL-E integration.
Video Generation & Aesthetic Contrast: Video clips were generated primarily using state-of-the-art tools like Kling, supplemented by Grok and Vidu for specific dynamic shots. The aesthetic contrast was paramount: Seoul scenes were treated with a cold, desaturated blue/grey tone, contrasting sharply with the warm, golden, sun-drenched tones of the Kingston/Trenchtown scenes.
Post-Production & Rhythm Sync: Detailed asset refinement was handled in Photoshop and enhanced using tools like Google Gemini. The crucial step involved intensive manual post-editing to precisely adjust video time clips. This process was essential to force the AI-generated characters to appear to dance and move in perfect sync with the fixed rhythm of the Suno track.
Challenges we ran into
The most significant technical hurdle was achieving precise rhythm synchronization with AI-generated video. Because current AI video models do not allow for detailed rhythm input or beat-matching, the characters' movements often felt disconnected from the music's pulse, especially the complex Ska brass rhythms. We overcame this by implementing a labor-intensive manual post-editing process, adjusting frame timing and clip lengths by hand in the editing suite to make the characters' subtle movements appear to be dancing perfectly to the rhythm.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Seamless Aesthetic and Narrative Convergence: greatest achievement is the successful visualization of the song's emotional core. We transcended the limitations of generative AI to visually represent the encounter with the old Ska Saxophonist—the powerful symbol of analog soul—and its subsequent, palpable infusion into the modern, digital Seoul sound. This successfully realized the lyrical climax: "Two worlds collide, banishing all my fear."
What we learned
Prompt Engineering for Consistency: We significantly refined our knowledge of Midjourney prompt segmentation and weight to maintain a single, consistent character and style across hundreds of generated images—a crucial step for animation flow.
Rhythm and Manual Refinement: We learned that AI is a powerful generator, but refinement remains a human task. The intensive manual editing to sync movement to rhythm highlighted the difference between mere visual output and emotionally engaging, time-based art.
The Power of Contrast: We learned how effectively strong visual and sonic contrast (cold/warm, digital/analog, fast/upbeat) can amplify a narrative, making the final moment of "infusion" much more impactful for the viewer.

Community Engagement & AI Workflow Openness: As an AI Creator, the next step is to make the workflow shareable. We plan to create a detailed behind-the-scenes breakdown video and prompt library based on this project to help other creators master consistency and rhythm sync with their own AI tools, fostering a stronger AI creator community.
