Inspiration

This project was inspired by the many different iterations that we went through and trying to develop an idea that would be a solution in this MakeMIT x Harvard Hackathon. It’s a non-lethal line of defense for home security systems that utilizes a primary basis of psychology toward potential intruders.

What It Does

SENTRY is an AI-powered rover that autonomously patrols your property perimeter. It detects intruders (human or animal) via computer vision, issues verbal warnings, and then neutralizes with precise paintball or rubber projectile shots

How We Built It

We are building it using CAD systems, 3D modelling, many different iterations and many more.

Challenges We Ran Into

We ran into quite a few challenges, some physical one,s as we lost critical team members, such as our software development and our official MIT team member. But werecruited a team member who had access to the tools and disciplines that we needed to make our rover. Throughout the night, we ran into many technical errors where the stepper motors weren't functioning properly, the Jetson Nano wouldn't be able to identify the ArduCam attached to it (leading us to switch to a RasberryPi which still failed due to failure of wiring components and other technical issues. In short, the project demo did not align with our vision for the project. However, with these failures and mistakes come lessons we learned from and grew because of, never stopping believing in our idea and our technical and innovative prowess. At least now we know what not to do when it comes to competing in a hardware hackathon.
