Inspiration
Online scams, phishing attacks, fake investment platforms, fraudulent e-commerce stores, and crypto-related scams continue to cost individuals and businesses billions of dollars every year. Existing solutions are often fragmented, reactive, or difficult for everyday users to access. We wanted to build a platform that empowers anyone to instantly verify digital entities before interacting with them, creating a safer and more trustworthy internet. SentinelX was inspired by the idea of combining AI-powered threat intelligence with community-driven reporting to build a global digital trust network.
What it does
SentinelX is an AI-powered scam intelligence and digital trust platform that allows users to verify websites, phone numbers, email addresses, crypto wallet addresses, and online identities before engaging with them.
Key features include:
- AI-powered threat analysis and risk scoring
- Real-time scam and phishing detection
- Community-driven threat reporting and verification
- Reputation and investigator leaderboard system
- Global threat intelligence dashboard
- Interactive threat map visualization
- Analytics for emerging cyber threats
- Enterprise-ready API architecture for future integrations
The platform helps users identify suspicious digital entities and make informed decisions before becoming victims of fraud.
How we built it
We built SentinelX as a modern full-stack web application using:
Frontend
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- shadcn/ui
- Vercel v0 for rapid UI generation and prototyping
Backend & Infrastructure
- AWS DynamoDB for scalable threat intelligence storage
- AWS Lambda-ready architecture for threat processing
- API routes and server actions for data handling
- Vercel deployment and hosting
AI Layer
- AI-driven risk assessment workflows
- Automated classification of scam reports
- Threat scoring and categorization engine
Application Architecture
Users submit reports or perform searches through the Next.js frontend. Requests are processed through backend APIs, stored in DynamoDB, analyzed by the AI engine, and returned as actionable threat intelligence. Community validation further improves accuracy and confidence scores over time.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a system that could realistically scale to millions of users while maintaining fast search performance and low operational complexity. We also had to think carefully about how to structure threat intelligence data, community verification workflows, and AI-generated risk assessments in a way that remains both accurate and user-friendly.
Another challenge was balancing powerful cybersecurity functionality with a clean and approachable user experience that non-technical users could easily understand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a production-ready concept capable of supporting global-scale threat intelligence.
- Successfully designed the platform around AWS DynamoDB for high scalability and low-latency access.
- Created a modern and intuitive user experience using Vercel and v0.
- Developed a comprehensive architecture that combines AI analysis, crowdsourced intelligence, and reputation systems.
- Designed a solution with strong potential for real-world impact in reducing online fraud and cybercrime.
- Created a platform that could evolve into a commercial SaaS product serving both consumers and enterprises.
What we learned
This project reinforced the importance of designing for scale from the very beginning. We learned how AWS databases can support high-volume, globally distributed applications while maintaining performance and reliability.
We also gained valuable experience combining AI-powered analysis with human intelligence through community reporting systems. Additionally, we explored how rapid development tools like Vercel v0 can significantly accelerate the process of building sophisticated production-ready applications.
What's next for SentinelX
Our vision is to transform SentinelX into a global digital trust infrastructure.
Future plans include:
- Browser extensions for real-time scam detection
- Mobile applications for Android and iOS
- Telegram and WhatsApp verification bots
- Enterprise threat intelligence APIs
- Real-time phishing detection services
- Blockchain wallet risk analysis
- Integration with cybersecurity platforms and security operations centers
- Machine learning models trained on community-verified threat data
- Regional threat intelligence feeds for governments, financial institutions, and enterprises
Ultimately, we aim to make SentinelX the trusted layer that helps individuals and organizations verify digital interactions before trust is established.
