What it does

SentinelOps is an AI incident commander with a WebMCP-enabled dashboard. When a Cloud Run service starts returning HTTP 500 errors, SentinelOps detects the failure, investigates evidence with Gemini and Google ADK, proposes a remediation, requires human approval for high-impact action, performs a constrained rollback, and verifies that the service has recovered.

WebMCP lets a compatible agent participate in that workflow through structured tools exposed by the dashboard. The agent can find an incident, inspect its evidence and events, and help the operator coordinate the next step. The operator retains control of approval and execution. SentinelOps reports an incident as resolved only after a real health check succeeds.

Why WebMCP

Incident response requires people and agents to work from the same live state. Without WebMCP, an external agent would need a custom API integration, direct infrastructure credentials, or browser automation to use the control plane. SentinelOps instead exposes specific capabilities from the web application itself.

The agent handles discovery and inspection; the human decides whether to authorize a consequential action. Both can follow the same incident lifecycle in the dashboard. This makes agent assistance useful during a real operational task while keeping the existing safety controls in place.

How we implemented WebMCP

The SentinelOps dashboard registers eight browser tools using document.modelContext.registerTool(...). Four are read-only: listing incidents, inspecting one incident, listing events, and listing nodes. Four support controlled steps: approving or rejecting a proposed remediation, executing an approved remediation, and verifying recovery.

The tools call the existing SentinelOps API. WebMCP does not give the agent unrestricted cloud access or bypass backend policy. Remediation still requires approval, an allowlisted service, a valid target revision, and explicit execution confirmation. Verification uses the existing health-check workflow.

SentinelOps existed before this challenge. The WebMCP browser bridge, its eight tools, dashboard status indicator, activity record, and regression tests were added during the challenge submission period. The distinction between the existing system and the new WebMCP work is documented in the public repository.
