Inspiration As a student at FUASK, I was frustrated by our university website. It frequently went down, and important notices were easy to miss. I thought, “What if we had a smart guardian that never sleeps and watches the website for us?”
What it does Sentinel is an intelligent AI-powered bot that continuously monitors our university website. It detects downtime, security vulnerabilities, and new announcements — then sends clear alerts with AI-generated summaries straight to Telegram so no important update is ever missed.
How I built it I built Sentinel using Python, Telegram (aiogram), web scraping tools, and Groq AI for smart summaries. I focused on cybersecurity features like SSL checking, security headers, and anomaly detection, while keeping the code clean and modular.
Challenges we ran into The school server sometimes returned strange 415 errors, making monitoring tricky. Balancing fast performance with deep security checks and getting the AI to summarize clearly were also big challenges.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of I successfully created a working system that combines cybersecurity monitoring with useful AI intelligence. The bot is already helping me stay updated, and the project has a professional structure suitable for real-world use.
What I learned I learned how to build reliable monitoring systems, integrate AI practically, handle real-world server quirks, and structure code like a proper software engineer. Most importantly, I learned that small tools can solve big everyday problems.
