Inspiration
Doctor visits can often feel intimidating, inconvenient, and difficult to schedule, especially when patients already have their lab reports and just need quick, informed insights. We wanted to make it easier for people to understand and act on their healthcare data securely.
What It Does
Sentinel Health automatically masks sensitive PII/PHI data before sharing it with a reasoning layer that can answer questions about the reports. It can also function as a tool orchestrator, enabling seamless interaction between secure data handling, AI reasoning, and healthcare workflows.
How We Built It
We built Sentinel Health using AWS for infrastructure, Claude for reasoning and query capabilities, Lovable for rapid app development, and Semgrep for enforcing code security and compliance best practices.
Challenges We Ran Into
Our biggest challenge was ideation — understanding the strengths of each tool and designing an architecture that balanced functionality, privacy, and usability. Integrating these diverse components securely took time and careful thought.
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of
We’re proud of creating something that truly matters — a step toward making healthcare more accessible, privacy-conscious, and user-driven.
What We Learned
We gained a deep appreciation for security and compliance requirements in healthcare. Even building a prototype involves navigating a complex landscape of data protection, architecture design, and ethical AI use.
What’s Next for Sentinel Health
Our vision is to evolve Sentinel Health into a central hub for healthcare document management — allowing patients to securely store and share their historical records with doctors, and empowering them to take confident, informed action on their health data.
