Inspiration

The inspiration for creating this challenge was to leverage AI to make smarter decisions for office buildings so that the user can focus on what's actually important rather than worrying about what electronics are on in what room if that room is empty.

What it does

Sentinel monitors and analyzes energy consumption patterns in real-time. Using AI, it identifies inefficiencies, automates energy-saving adjustments, and provides actionable insights to lower bills and carbon footprints.

How we built it

We used JavaScript/TypeScript, Vite, react, flask, firebase, firestore, & shadcn

Challenges we ran into

• Teammates quitting early
• Not being able to connect the frontend to the backend
• Pivoting when deadlines were unrealistic

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Building a full stack project in a short amount of time
• Aesthetic frontend

What we learned

• Learning how all components of a web app works

What's next for Sentinel

• Adding gamification features to encourage sustainable behavior.
