Inspiration

We were tired of the same ol’ boring language learning methods that feel like they're stuck in 2010. With our collective obsession for memes, chaotic humor, and all things Japanese, we thought, “Why not make learning fun and totally extra?” That’s how Sensei Drip was born—a teacher who gives you the 411 on Japanese while keeping it real with brain rot and vibes you actually wanna engage with.

What it does

Sensei Drip is a 3D interactive teacher who takes user-inputted Japanese (or any text, tbh) and flips it into pure Gen Z lingo, memes, and pop culture references. Need help with kanji? She’s got you. Confused about grammar? She’ll serve it to you with chaotic energy. It’s like getting your Japanese lessons from your bestie who’s always in the know—No cap, it’s educational, but make it fun.

How we built it

We built the project using:

  • 3D modeling: Designed Sensei Drip using three.js to make her fire, with all the personality and drip you need.
  • Generative AI: Integrated Gemini AI and ElevenLabs (for voice) to make her sound as iconic as she looks.
  • Content design: Created a system where users input Japanese (or any text), and Sensei Drip translates and explains it with mad Gen Z lingo, memes, and cultural references that’ll have you dead.

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing Sensei Drip’s personality to be the perfect balance of chaotic, cool, and educational. We didn’t want her to just be a vibe—she had to actually teach.
  • Syncing the 3D model’s mouth movements with speech so it wasn’t just cringe when she spoke. We wanted that realism and drip.
  • Optimizing the 3D assets so she didn’t lag—keeping the experience smooth while maintaining top-tier quality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully flipping translations and explanations into a full-on mood that feels like you’re just vibing with a chaotic, cool teacher.
  • Creating a dope 3D character that actually has personality, drip, and interactive magic.
  • Developing a completely unique way to teach Japanese with meme culture, humor, and all the vibes you need to stay engaged.

What we learned

  • That understanding what your audience wants is everything—it’s about making it fun, relatable, and no cap educational.
  • The key to keeping people engaged? Balancing entertainment and education.
  • That generative AI tools are mad powerful and can bring even the wildest ideas to life.
  • How important it is to be cultured, based, and never afraid to add a little extra.

What's next for Sensei Drip

  • Expanding her lessons to cover more Japanese language and culture—no subject is off-limits.
  • Adding multiplayer features so you can squad up and learn together—group chat vibes, anyone?
  • Giving Sensei Drip even more voice lines and animations, because why not?
  • Taking Sensei Drip global, adding other languages, and bringing those same chaotic vibes worldwide.
