Inspiration
"I wanna look good and I have to lose 10kg for it". Our team questions: "what does 10 kg realllly mean?"
What it does
Our solution is burntToast. burntToast helps users visualize their fitness journey through AI-powered body projections and daily photo tracking. It's core features are:
- Snap a photo, get a projected body shape based on your goal.
- Track daily photos in a calendar view.
- Syncs with Apple Health to measure real activity.
- Suggests concrete and actionable daily goals like "walk 2,000 more steps".
- Focuses on consistency, not numbers.
How we built it
- React Native + Expo
- MaxStudio Body Shaper API for projections
- Apple HealthKit integration via react-native-health
- expo-sqlite for local image storage, AWS S3 for long-term hosting
Challenges we ran into
- Making projections feel both realistic and encouraging.
- Finding the right actionable metric
- Motivating features like "body timelapse" to boost morales mid-streak
What we learned
- People are mostly motivated by visual progress, not metrics.
- A realistic image of the future self can drive behavior.
What's next for burntToast
- Integrating calorie intake
Final Thoughts
burntToast reframes fitness by helping users see their future selves — not just through numbers, but through daily, visible progress. It’s not about the number. It’s about consistency, confidence, and vision.
