Inspiration
We aimed to make things easier for the Student Government by making it run smoothly.
What it does
It is an all-in-one hub for students to submit resolutions, the leadership team to approve them, and senators to vote on them.
How we built it
First, we laid out our website design plan and functionalities. One of us used Figma and Canva to make our design and then react, html, and CSS for the front-end. Meanwhile, another got started on the backend, and created the basic structure of webpages and worked on things like user authentications, creating objects for databases etc. Then we started to put everything together into a fully furnished website that the student government can consider using.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into all sorts of problems. If we were to list them it would never end. However, we managed through them with intense googling and arguing, eventually figuring out our way through them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We actually managed to do everything in 24 hours.
What we learned
On the technical side, we got a lot more confident with Figma and web designing in general. But we learned to work together as a team, coordinate our duties, and most importantly 'lock in' for 24 hours.
What's next for Senate Resolution Hub
The Student Government can implement this website in real life. It will be better for both them and the UTA community. We will add more features in the future such as a voting feature for senators so votes stay anonymous and are counted automatically by our software.
