For our ESE 1110 final project, we are planning to create a device that can facilitate the transfer of power from one battery to another from an app input. The big picture of our project would be a peer to peer platform where a solar panel owner has the ability to sell a specific amount of their excess power to a friend. This can lead to huge improvements in the availability of power in societies where the access to power sources is not mainstream.
Specifically, we plan to use the Arduino to measure both voltage and current (either creating our own voltmeter/ammeter or finding external ones) in both the receiving and distributing battery so that we can calculate the power of the battery that the seller is charging. Additionally, we plan to use a digital relay that switches on when the transaction starts and switches off when the charging battery has reached its desired level of power.
We mainly plan to use wifi for our network connections.
