Inspiration - For us to seek solutions through applications and new technologies ,
connecting sectors that are seemingly oblivious to these technologies is a challenge that we are ready to break . The fishackaton represented an opportunity to interact with people closest to the fisheries sector and devise the app to provide information about them and connect everyone in a simple way .
What it does - The is geared for two types of people, normal user and fisherman.
for normal user the app will recognize the species, size and weight approximately, for fisherman once caught the fish can proceed to recognition which show the calculated size and weight will compare the information with a database in order to Cumle report whether the ideals standards for consumption and com if your species has a sufficient population for not have a drastic impact on its ecosystem. This indicates that at least the fisherman would have to have a device with Android OS, but we have thought of a person with a low-end phone. For them a website with a few personal details including phone number would be created it would send a text message (SMS) with information on prices of the species most capture, playback level daily, its current cost in the market, weather conditions and if there is any change in the latter additional warning message to preserve their safety.
How we built it - We plan to develop the app in languages such as JavaScript or Java and Python website . UI
would be simple no more than three main windows ( Home , camera and information) for ease of use .
Challenges we ran into - The algorithm calculates the measurements of the fish is complicated to do because we have to define a minimum distance for the app to recognize the
fish , length and weight to calculate a margin of error , the app initially could only identify one species at a time. For the SMS option would have a cost deacuerdo at prices established by telephone operators at least Moveable messages with information, weather alerts would be free. We just have 19 years and have no coocimiento to generate databases, we expect to acquire it in a few months
Accomplishments that we're proud of - We managed to maintain a good teamwork all the time and have a previous smaller the app when submitting the pitch.
What we learned - We learned a lot about the importance of pezca for all, the main problems that this sector presents today. Besides being our first
Hackathon learned to work with many people outside our race.
What's next for Selfish - In the future we hope to add voice command functions for people with problems or problems reading vist ,
also that the aplicacióon read the information it has. Generate such powerful algorithm that is capable of increasing the distance that must be the device camera to recognize the fish , multiple recognition in the same picture , in the information section expand the data provided total anual aquanty of fish caught SMS are free for everyone, arriveto all plataforms & all devices.
