Inspiration
one of our group members loves plants and we wanted to work with that.
What it does
our modular smart device monitors moisture, and also manually provides wind and water to the plant. this is also done on a timer based on the last time it was watered.
How we built it
we designed all the plastic parts in fusion 360, used the elegoo nano micro controller and a lot of screens and PCBs and wires all soldiered together.
Challenges we ran into
within the first 20 minutes our 3d printer broke down(fixed it at the 8 hr mark), our original microcontrollers were cheap and 3 broke so we had to move to a different board, One member of our team learned C for the first time and coded 70% of the project, and we had to spend a good hour finding a cold sodering connection.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built it, it is for most of us our first microcontroller project except for one member who is his third. and it works.
What we learned
coding in C how .h files work, how GitHub works, how analogue signals work, how to use a microcontroller board with motors, and a lot more
What's next for self-watering smart plant
Have specific settings for plant types and a Bluetooth ap to monitor as well.
