Inspiration
We noticed that financial education is rarely taught in a practical and engaging way. Many young people are unsure how to manage their money, and we wanted to build something that feels fun, playful, and truly useful.
What it does
Self Invest is a gamified app that teaches users how to make smart money decisions in everyday situations. Through short quizzes and simulations, users explore personal finance topics, earn points, and unlock rewards.
How we built it
We prototyped the app in Figma, focusing on a smooth and intuitive user flow. All visuals and animations were created to keep the tone playful yet clear. We also scripted interactive quiz logic and reward mechanics that reflect real-life money behavior.
Challenges we ran into
It was challenging to make finance feel both educational and genuinely fun. We also had to simplify complex financial ideas without losing meaning, and make sure everything felt cohesive visually.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the finished design and user experience. The narrative flow, animations, and gamified reward system really bring the idea to life. We also got great feedback from testers who said they'd actually use the app.
What we learned
We learned how to turn a serious topic into a user-friendly product, how to storyboard a digital learning experience, and how to collaborate effectively under time pressure.
What's next for Self Invest
We want to add more quizzes, personalize user paths, and partner with real companies to offer redeemable rewards. We also plan to test the app with students and expand based on their feedback.
