What it does
FinSight is a smart personal finance management web application that helps users take control of their financial life. Users can track income and expenses, manage transactions, monitor savings, analyze spending patterns, and set financial goals through an interactive and user-friendly dashboard.
Built using React, Spring Boot, MySQL, and REST APIs, FinSight delivers a modern full-stack solution for efficient, organized, and smarter personal finance management.
How we built it
We built FinSight as a full-stack personal finance management application. The frontend was developed using React and Vite, while the backend was built with Java and Spring Boot. We integrated MySQL for data storage and implemented authentication, transaction management, financial dashboards, and interactive charts to help users track their income and expenses.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was integrating the React frontend with the Spring Boot backend and database. We also faced issues with authentication, CORS, deployment, and keeping financial data synchronized between the frontend and backend. Resolving these challenges helped us improve the reliability and overall user experience of FinSight.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a complete full-stack personal finance platform from scratch. FinSight includes authentication, transaction management, interactive financial dashboards, income and expense tracking, and a responsive user interface. We are also proud of successfully deploying the application and integrating multiple technologies into one working product.
What we learned
While building FinSight, we learned how to develop and connect a full-stack application using React, Spring Boot, Java, and MySQL. We also gained practical experience with REST APIs, authentication, database integration, CORS, deployment, and debugging real-world application issues. Most importantly, we learned how to turn an idea into a complete working product.
What's next for Self Finance Hub
Our next goal is to make FinSight smarter and more user-friendly. We plan to add advanced financial insights, personalized budgeting and savings recommendations, improved reports and analytics, notifications, and more powerful data visualization. We also aim to continue improving performance, security, and the overall user experience.
