Inspiration
We are entering a new era of healthcare. In most of modern history, understanding your health required physicians, hospitals, expensive specialists, insurance red tape and limited access to testing. Today, we have access to more comprehensive bloodwork and body scans than ever before thanks to companies like Function Health, Superpower, Life Force, Prenuvo, and others, where consumers can purchase specialty biomarker tests, sequence their DNA, analyze their microbiome, and wear continuous health sensors all from the comfort of their own homes.
While we have more personal health data available than that at any point in human history, the problem is the disjointed, fragmented nature of that information rather than having one reliable source of truth about our health. That’s where SELF Dashboard comes in.
I became interested in preventative health, wellness and longevity after personally experiencing an autoimmune condition that most doctors I saw could not understand or help me manage. A few years after my diagnosis, my father’s health declined and for years I was his secondary caretaker, feeling helpless to intervene or help him reverse his health. Ultimately longevity isn’t just a hobby to me, it’s a source of power and hope. When illness or life circumstances take away time and opportunities, longevity can help give us a sense of control back over our lives.
What it does
SELF Dashboard is an AI-powered operating system for your personal health. Instead of managing your biomarkers and tracking through multiple dashboards, systems, portals and apps, SELF Dashboard allows you to sync your most important health data into one place to track your health goals, daily progress and interventions without the overwhelm of data overload.
How we built it
As an avid user of various health platforms, and a brand builder myself, I started with the vision and creative direction. I then worked with ChatGPT 5.6 as the Product Manager, Codex as the Senior Engineer, and Replit as the testing platform to build the MVP of SELF Dashboard and to plan its future features.
Challenges
Healthcare data is fragmented and different companies exposure different APIs. While some are public, others require commercial partnerships, extending our timeline for launch as we gather the required permissions. A major feature coming soon to SELF Dashboard is the ability to integrate with your various wearable tech, health apps and even home-health apps. As additional integrations become available, this data will be invaluable for tracking daily progress, and gaining real-time insight into personal and environmental factors influencing our health.
Accomplishments
I’ve always felt that prevention deserved more attention than waiting for acute problems to arise, and that’s why I’m so excited by this shift in access to personal health data. SELF Dashboard has proven that longitudinal biomarker tracking with a foundation for future integrations is possible, user-friendly and accessible to all who have a vested interest in their health goals.
What we learned
I’ve personally tested many of the biomarker tracking companies out there including Function Health, 23andMe, LabCorp OnDemand, TruDiagnostics and other supplemental tests through my naturopathic doctor. I’ve also worked in the health and wellness industry as a Founder, brand consultant and investor for over 10 years.
As both a consumer researcher and consumer, I have a deep understanding of the growing demand for personal health data and the challenges people face turning that data into clear, actionable insights. As the wellness industry expands into a multi-trillion-dollar market opportunity, consumers are also increasingly wary of snake oil products, misinformation, and data overload. Starting with a clear, actionable dashboard that helps people better understand themselves and their individual health needs.
What's next
SELF Dashboard aims to be the one operating system that continuously learns from biomarkers, symptoms, genetics, interventions, wearables, and environmental data to help people make better health decisions over time.
What started as an internal dashboard to support a larger longevity project my team and I are building ultimately evolved into something much bigger. Our vision is to create a unified operating system for personal health that empowers people to better understand themselves, make more informed decisions, and proactively optimize their health throughout every stage of life.
