Inspiration
Upon the reveal of the theme, Set in Stone, we first began a brainstorming session. Early on, we had ideas for the theming of the game, basing it vaguely upon both the Seikilos Epitaph, which is the oldest surviving complete musical composition and is aptly set in a stone stele, and the Jewish story of the Golem, a being made of mud and clay, and brought to life through magic. Both of these ideas have been our driving force through the creation of the game, inspiring the music, setting and character design.
How we built it
Our primary development software was Godot, due to its wide range of features and easy management. For our art, we used Krita, and for Music and SFX, a combination of MuseScore and Audacity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
After encountering some git conflicts, we had an incredible moment, whereupon multiple components of the game which were all being developed semi-separately, suddenly came together to form a rough, but functional, product.
What's next for Seikilos?
After the Game Jam concludes, we are considering continuing development for Seikilos, with aims to add new features and levels. While the details are not specific, one thing that's certain is that this game won't be dropped soon!
