SEIC

Inspiration

Coming from a country with little to no accessibility for people with disabilities, and after observing how thoughtfully they are supported in this country, we believe it is our duty to contribute to the development of technologies that assist those with disabilities – challenges they did not choose to face.

What it does

In efforts to address these problems, two AI Models were developed. One is used for translating sign language into text, and the other is used for assistance in navigating colors for people with color blindness.

How we built it

It features sign language recognition via Teachable Machine (TensorFlow.js) and a color analysis tool using Canvas API & ImageData API.

Challenges we ran into

In terms of sign language, because of the time limitation, we have just done a basic form demo of converting signs to 3 words using Teachable Machine to focus on color detection, we hope that in the near future, we can do more of it.

Accomplishments

We're proud of we have done an idea that might be someday good for our country and the world in general. Secondly, I, myself, have taught my teammates more valuable knowledge and I hope that they are also proud of what they have learned from me. And finally, We have discovered IIT together, worked together, and enjoyed every moment of teamwork and making new friends! Cheer!

What we learned

We have learned a lot of valuable lessons. We have met many good people and realized how much we need to try hard. When working together, we understand the importance of teamwork, time management and communication in project collaborations.

What's next for SEIC

We have lots of plans for SEIC. In the near future, we hope that we can finish all the features of the website, make a mobile app for convenience. And the far future, someday, I hope that we can debut our product to those who needed, especially in our hometown. In terms of the color detection, we have a small dream of collaborating with big tech company in the future to develop color-detection-based products such as color-detection glasses, color-detection earpods.
